As Rotarians, we are expected to take part in the growth and development of our own profession or vocation; to serve on committees and to teach youth about our job or vocation. Rotary helps to make us better at our chosen profession. Rotarians practice a Four-Way Test that governs our ethical standards. We are also peace builders who initiate dialogue and resolve conflicts.
Most frequent question asked is how much time I need to spend on Rotary affairs and simple answer is it is up to you. Standard members usually devote between one and several hours per week, depending on how much they volunteer to work on committees and service projects. Rotary will not require much of your time unless you want it to, and we accommodate members who face significant family, work, or other demands. Rotary International has been very clear that nobody should have to decide between being a good Rotarian and a good parent, employee, business owner, etc. There are many different ways to participate, and our club is flexible. We have been very zealous since we started by doing some many local and international projects but for now, we need to slow down our pace. We will try to keep 4-6 hours average per month but again it is all voluntary. Our hands on time working together provide the opportunity to deepen our bonds of friendship with our common desire to make difference and have an impact on our community.
Thank you all for all the nice things you are doing to make this world a better place to live.
At your service,
Khurshid Qureshi

Remember the term “It takes a village to raise a village.” We, as in many generations and groups, put together two heart warming events on this Valentine's Day with the local Monument Senior homes – Bethesda Gardens Monument & Jackson Creek Senior Living. The Girl Scout troop spent hours making colorful cards accented with chocolates while leader, Nicole Schoolsky, made scrumptious cupcakes. Then Miriam Beasley used her magic touch of artistic skills to decorate the cupcakes. The Tri-Lakes Dynamic Rotary Club members and young future Rotarian, Aliyah Eaton, enjoyed participating and seeing the smiles on these beautiful young faces in the Senior home while helping the seniors in the Valentine party. The Seniors definitely loved eating those yummy chocolate and vanilla cupcakes during their party.
Earlier in the day, in the other senior home, Seniors enjoyed decorating heart cookies donated by Lori Lynn’s Cookies and Cream. They especially loved adding the sprinkles on their own. Also, they loved licking the frosting from decorating the cookies off their fingers. We especially loved hearing about their life & love stories.
As a Rotarian, the sense of community was felt with love as “it took a village,” AKA community, to “raise a village” and make this project come together on this heart warming day.
TLRotary would like to shout out and thank all those involved – Laurie Beasley, our Rotarians, Girl Scout Troop #40095, Lori Lynn’s Cookies and Cream, Aliyah Eaton, Miriam Beasley – for making this such a successful day.
