As Rotarians, we are expected to take part in the growth and development of our own profession or vocation; to serve on committees and to teach youth about our job or vocation. Rotary helps to make us better at our chosen profession. Rotarians practice a Four-Way Test that governs our ethical standards. We are also peace builders who initiate dialogue and resolve conflicts.
Most frequent question asked is how much time I need to spend on Rotary affairs and simple answer is it is up to you. Standard members usually devote between one and several hours per week, depending on how much they volunteer to work on committees and service projects. Rotary will not require much of your time unless you want it to, and we accommodate members who face significant family, work, or other demands. Rotary International has been very clear that nobody should have to decide between being a good Rotarian and a good parent, employee, business owner, etc. There are many different ways to participate, and our club is flexible. We have been very zealous since we started by doing some many local and international projects but for now, we need to slow down our pace. We will try to keep 4-6 hours average per month but again it is all voluntary. Our hands on time working together provide the opportunity to deepen our bonds of friendship with our common desire to make difference and have an impact on our community.
Thank you all for all the nice things you are doing to make this world a better place to live.
At your service,
Khurshid Qureshi

Mardi Gras RAD Night at YMCA: Tri-Lakes Dynamic Rotary Club & RAD Leaders
March Club Social: Bunco Night & Potluck
Marianella Medelius flew down to Peru and delivered the chairs/desks this month. 120 Peruvian students will be able to be enrolled and have the opportunity to learn with new desks now being back in the school.
Our club’s Marianella Medelius with the Callao Rotary Club in Peru.
Shane & Laurie Beasley volunteer at Tri-Lakes Cares on Mondays. Today, he was stocking the shelves with supplies donated from our Bunco Night Social collection.
Tri-Lakes Dynamic Rotary Club and Monument Kiwanis Team up to support the local Tri-Lakes Cares with a hygiene drive. The Tri-Lakes Dynamic Rotary Club recently joined forces with the Monument Kiwanis to organize a hygiene drive at the Monument Dollar Tree. The drive, which lasted for a week in April, was a huge success as the community rallied to donate over 1100 pounds of hygiene items.
The Tri-Lakes Cares community will be the main beneficiary of this drive, as the donated items will help to fill up their shelves and ensure that those in need have access to basic hygiene products. This is particularly important in the current climate, where many families are struggling to make ends meet.
The hygiene drive received overwhelming support from the community, with even dental community members coming forward to clean out shelves & hygiene items. Even the store workers were able to help give a push and support this great need. This outpouring of love and caring demonstrates the power of community when we come together to support those in need.
No-Booze St. Pat's Bash last Friday at the Woodmoor Barn
Ashtōnz put on a great booze-free event on St. Patrick's Day. Tri-Lakes Dynamic Rotary Club was a proud sponsor and hosted a donation drive for Tri-Lakes Cares. Thanks to our amazing community, we donated 265 lbs of everything from toiletries, canned food, cereal, jelly, boxed food, toilet paper, protein drinks, and so much more! Thank you Charlie Searle and Marissa for hosting!
After months of hard work and coordination, our very own International Committee has officially delivered 120 desks to the Naciones Unides Ventanilla Callao school. Ventanilla has a population of 441,860. 38.8% of the population is under 18 years of age. 29.2% of the population lives under poverty levels.
We worked in partnership with the Rotary Callao Club Peru to communicate with the school, raise funds, apply for match grants from the district. Our committee succeeded in raising $4,560 to purchase the desks, and Marianella Medelius flew down to Peru and delivered them, so that 120 students will be able to be enrolled and have the opportunity to learn.
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Bus Update
After months of communication with the Puerto Vallarta Rotary Club, Tri-Lakes Dynamic Rotary Club’s President, Khurshid Qureshi was able to make the right connections to complete a wish of a bus needed for a Puerto Vallarta school bus. The collaboration between the Tri-Lakes Dynamic Rotary Club and the Puerto Vallarta Rotary Club is a testament to the power of partnership and the impact that can be made when organizations work together for the greater good. The bus will make a significant difference in the lives of those who will benefit from this service, and it is thanks to the generosity of fellow Colorado Springs Rotary clubs/Rotary Grants that this project has become a reality.
Education Committee Update
Math Tutoring Wednesdays at the Monument Library
By Steve Eaton
Success! With the exception of nature wanting to snow on Wednesdays/middle of the week, we were finally able to have a successful grand opening of math tutoring. Rotary supplied yummy cookies to the students who showed up. We were able to help over 15-30 students with math questions ranging from elementary math all the way up to Geometry. With retired math professors, Calculus teachers from Lewis Palmer High School, math majors, and engineers recruited, we hope our success continues to enrich all students who seek help.
We are very excited about many of the opportunities that we have ahead of us. While we understand that not everyone could make it, we certainly hope we incorporated everyone's thoughts, ideas and committee needs. If we miss anything, please reply and let me know, so we can address it at the next fundraising committee meeting. Additionally, if there is a fundraiser you would like to assist with, please reach out and let us know. We will all need to help, in order to have the success we are hoping for.
One big ask is who might have expertise or connections to gain corporate sponsors for our club?
Thank you again for all you do for our community and to make the world a better place!
Yours in Service,
Nicole Schoolsky
